Discover the journey of a digital detective navigating the AI frontier.

About:

Hello There Programs, I’m Kimberly — lifelong writer, question-asker, and occasional chaos magnet.

I created AI Real or Not because the internet is getting weirder by the day. Hell, reality is getting weirder by the day. In a world where one of the questions one asks daily is “What stupid thing did he do today?” it is so important to know what is real, and what isn’t because what is real can be really damn weird. AI images, fake videos, and deepfakes are popping up faster than we can blink, and honestly, I wanted a place to slow down, dig in, and check the pixels.

My husband, a cybersecurity professional who has seen just about every kind of digital deception out there, helps me out when I need a technical deep dive. Together, we mix curiosity, humor, and a little digital detective work to figure out what’s real — and what’s robot.

Growing up I was the girl that always wanted to know more. I was the book geek. I was the girl who never shut up about interesting things. Interesting to me anyway. I was “special” as I couldn’t spell my way out of a paper bag in second grade but tested at a high school level for reading. I was put in a mix of “special” and “gifted” classes. If only they understood girls on the spectrum back then the way they do now. I am neurodivergent and while I did learn to spell, I am still a glittering mess of chaos and information dumping.

Growing up, the internet wasn’t yet much of a thing. Not till my late high school years. That left me with books and I devoured them. Never did I guess though that someday I would live through a pandemic, a few social economic depressions, wars, and now….. Artificial Intelligence. AI fills my geeky girl heart with joy and excitement, and terror. Terror. So much science fiction, and now is the time for figuring out what in it was destined to be real. I am so excited to be alive during this crazy interesting time in technology. I strongly believe that beyond the ethical questions we all have, that if we don’t keep up with it, it will run us over. It might run us over anyway!

This site isn’t about doom and gloom though. It’s about learning to question, spot patterns, and share tools that make us all a bit more internet-savvy.

Welcome to AI Real or Not — where skepticism is self-care and curiosity is our favorite algorithm.
